Germany!

Well, we`ve been in Europe for a week now but seems like way longer. It seems like forever since we were in Thailand. We flew into Frankfurt and spent a couple of nights there. Kind of a quiet city...except for Saturday night at your hostel. Then we took the train to Berlin (4 hours) and took an 8 hour walking tour of the city. It was amazing and a perfect way to spend the only day we had in Berlin. On Wednesday, we took the train to Munich (7 hours) for the largest beer festival in the world....OKTOBERFEST!! It was great fun....everyone in their laderhausen (what the men wear) and diendles (the female dresses). We went out with our roommates and met some really nice Germans who helped us with the menu and then we hung out with them all night. What fun! Those 1L beers sure do add up....in more ways than one.

Frankfurt Old City Square.

At Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof /Main Station.

Berlin/Residential street. You can see the pre-war and post war buildings.

There is so much graffiti all over the city...adds character.

Reichstag building (german government building).

Holocaust Memorial just built in May 2006.

The Berlin Wall. This is the longest portion of the original wall in its original place. Millions of tourist used to come and chip a piece of the wall off...now they preserve it with a fence.

Beautiful church in Berlin...name???

Welcome to Oktoberfest! Munich.

Lots of people.
One of the beer "tents" where we had our first litre of beer.

Hi Kris and Bren,

Wow your pictures sure look German as opposed to Thai. Did you get a German beer Stein?
Maybe you should teach European history, Kris.
Love,
Mom and Dan
