Rhonda

Just a couple of weeks ago Brendon and I bought this lovely new addition for our travels. We knew that buying a car to get us around Australia would be our first option for transportation but it just took us a couple of months to find our "Rhonda"! We had been keeping our eye on the public notice boards around town but didn't really have too much luck finding a decent and cheap car (as Emerald is not really a huge backpacker hub, compared to say...Sydney or Brisbane). But thanks to Charles for spending his days off searching for a nice car for us, and also fixing it up. We now have Rhonda up and running. We named the car Rhonda because that is the name of the previous owner. She is a 1995 Ford Futura Station Wagon, with a/c and power windows...but come on, look at her...isn't she beautiful!!!

Now, we will be able to camp most of the way down the east coast of Australia...and then back up to Cairns. We shouldn't have any problem selling the car when we are finished with it as it is in good condition (especially for a backpacker). It is pretty popular for backpackers to buy cars over here for a short period and then sell them.

Brendon and I have just 3 weeks left in Emerald. This weekend will be our last weekend working at the bar (just so we can have some time to do things around Emerald before we leave). We have booked our flights out to New Zealand for April 24 and will return to Australia on May 25. We will then spend 2 months travelling south to Sydney and then Melbourne and back up to Cairns (to see the Great Barrier Reef). Hopefully we will get out to the "red centre" to see Uluru and Alice Springs. Anyway, we will keep up updated on what we are doing!
