Kia Ora (Good-bye) New Zealand
By Brendon: (we've decided to start letting you know who is writing each episode of... "THE BLOG"!!!!)
Well our trip in New Zealand is pretty much over with. We are flying back to Aus. tomorrow afternoon (we actually are back in Aus now but we wrote this blog in N.Z.). The last bit of our trip here in New Zealand was great...a lot of driving though. From Auckland we had a little visit with my cousin Angus and his family before heading south to Waitomo Caves. Waitomo is a little place that is a huge tourist destination because of...you guessed it, there is a lot of caves around the area. While in Waitomo we did a bit of a night hike to go see the glow worms that the area is famous for. It was actually really cool and the banks of the river look like a clear sky full of stars. The next day we took a short hike in the forest around the caves (all of the caves in the area require you to pay admission to enter which I disagree with seing that it is a natural area).
We then drove for half a day to Wanganui where we stayed the night. We didn't do much here so I'm moving on. The next day we drove right back to Wellington where we did a bit of shopping. The next day was our ferry back to the south island where we immediately caught the train which took us to Kaikoura. Kaikoura is a small town on the east coast of N.Z. which is famous for their whale watching and dolphin/seal swimming. We would've liked liked to do one of the tours but we're saving our money for next time!
Today we were back on the train to Christchurch for our last night in N.Z. We arrived a bit late and have just come from a great pizza restaurant. The pizza was Sweet as...(down under slang)
We are going to miss it here but plan to come back at some time. We are also looking forward to being back in Aus. and also being back with Rhonda (we really missed her)!
